The front plate of the book, The Hive of The Bee-Hunter, A Repository of Sketches, Including Peculiar American Character, Scenery, and Rural Sports, by Thomas Bangs Thorpe, c.1854. Thorpe belonged to a group of American authors active during the middle third of the nineteenth century and known as the humorists of the Old Southwest.
